"El Dorado!"

"El Dorado!" One of the components of a new piece I'm working on titled "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" 2016, bronze & glass. Bottle is from the former El Dorado Brewing Co. of Stockton, California. This bottle was most likely produced between 1933 - 1950.

In the Studio Today, October Twentieth, 2015

I'm currently sculpting this life-size bronze for this winter season.

This double life-size bronze is going to a new development in New York

This ¾ life-size bronze will be ready for this winter season.

The first bronze casting of this skull will go to a private collector in OKlahoma City

The first casting of this 1.5 x life-size bronze will go to a Bay Area collector's new home in Palm Desert. It will be finished in about a year and a half.

Down the Rabbit Hole

This year's OVAC 12 x 12 fundraiser is at the Omniplex Science Museum September 11, 7pm thru 10pm. More information can be found at the OVAC website.

Down the Rabbit Hole is my contribution this year.  Bronze, steel, stainless steel, 23K gold leaf,

2015, 12" x 12 x 12.

Welding in stainless steel anchors and fixing any flaws. Next up, xylene off wax in preparation for sandblasting.

Early steps to Resculpt "Grace"

I lost molds in a foundry fire. A Physicist in Virginia bought this casting of "Grace". I must make a mold of it, then repatinate before she goes to her new home. I will cast a positive in the mold and then begin resculpting. There is shrinkage throughout the lost wax bronze casting process, so I will use the positive as an armature and resculpt it bigger than the bronze in order to allow for the shrinkage.

Continued work on the Greg Norman Bust

The bust I sent for Greg Norman's birthday party (first photo) was cast in plastic. I was able to get it done faster than the bronze. The next step was to cast waxes in the rubber molds. The Deep In The Heart Art Foundry used the waxes to cast the sections of the bust in bronze. I've got them in my studio now and will begin welding, chasing, and finally patina.

After grinding & sandblasting, beginning to weld sections together.
